Before use

Read this before operation

Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight or close to any source of

heat, such as radiators, heaters, open fireplaces, amplifiers, etc.

Also avoid locations that are subject to vibrations or exposed to

excessive dust, cold or moisture.

Place the unit in a stable location near the audio system that you

will use.

Do not move the unit during playback.

< During playback, the disc rotates at high speed. Do not lift or move

the unit during playback. Doing so may damage the disc or the

unit.

Be careful to avoid injury when moving the unit due to its weight.

Get someone to help you if necessary.

The voltage supplied to the unit should match the voltage as

printed on the rear panel. If you are in any doubt regarding this

matter, consult an electrician.

As the unit could become warm during operation, always leave

sufficient space around it for ventilation. When placing this unit,

position it so that it is at least 30 cm (12") from walls and other

devices in order to allow good heat dissipation. When installing

it in a rack, leave at least 30 cm (12") open above and behind the

unit.

Do not open the cabinet as this might result in damage to the

circuitry or cause electric shock. If a foreign object should get into

the unit, contact your dealer or service company.

When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull

directly on the plug, never yank on the cord.

Always remove the disc before relocating or moving this unit.

Moving the unit with a disc inside could cause a malfunction.

Depending on the electromagnetic waves of television broadcasts,

interference might appear on television screens when this unit’s

power is on. This does not indicate that this unit or the TV is

malfunctioning. If this occurs, put the unit in standby.

DO NOT MOVE THE UNIT DURING PLAYBACK

During playback, the disc rotates at a high speed. Do NOT lift or move

the unit during playback. Doing so may damage the disc.

WHEN MOVING THIS UNIT

When changing the place of installation or packing the unit for

moving, be sure to remove the disc and return the disc table to its

original position in the player. Then, press the STANDBY/ON button to

put the unit in standby, and disconnect the power cord. Moving this

unit with a disc loaded may result in damage to this unit.

Maintenance

If the surface of the unit gets dirty, wipe it with a soft cloth or

use diluted mild liquid soap. Allow the surface of the unit to dry

completely before using.

Q For safety, disconnect the power cord from the socket before

cleaning.

p Never spray liquid directly on this unit.

p Do not use thinner or alcohol as they could damage the surface of

the unit.

p Avoid allowing rubber or plastic materials to touch this product for

long periods of time, because they could damage the cabinet.

Discs that can be played by this unit

CDs that bear the “COMPACT disc DIGITAL AUDIO”

logo.

< 12cm (4.7") or 8cm (3.15") discs

< Linear PCM digital audio

Audio CDs are divided into tracks.

CD-R and CD-RW discs that have been correctly

recorded in the audio CD format (CD-DA) and

finalized.

This unit can play these types of discs without an adapter. It cannot

play any other type of disc.

Q Playback of any other disc type could result in an unpleasant loud

noise, damage to the speakers as well as potential harm to your

hearing. Never play back any other type of disc.

The logo should be on the disc label or the CD jacket.

< DVDs, Video CDs, DVD-ROMs, CD-ROMs and similar types of discs

cannot be played on this unit.

Copy-protected discs and other discs that do not conform to

the CD standard might not play correctly in this player. If you

use such discs in this unit, TEAC and its subsidiaries will not

be responsible for any consequences or guarantee the quality

of reproduction. If you experience problems with such non-

standard discs, you should contact their issuers.

Discs created by a CD recorder must be finalized before use with

this unit. If you are uncertain about the handling of a CD-R or

CD-RW disc, please contact the seller of the disc directly.

Depending on disc quality and recording conditions, playback of some

discs might not be possible. Please see the manual for the device that

you used to create the disc.

Handling precautions

Always insert the disc into the disc tray with the label side up. Only

one side of a Compact Disc can be played or used for recording.

To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center

of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges.

CAUTION

Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged.

Playing such discs could cause irreparable harm to the playing

mechanisms.

While printable CD-R and CD-RW discs utilizing modern printing

technologies are generally acceptable, older systems that use

adhesives to attach paper type labels to the disc surface are not

recommended.

Do not stick papers or protective sheets on the discs and do not

use any protective coating sprays.

Never use a stabilizer. Using commercially available CD stabilizers

with this unit will damage the mechanisms and cause them to

malfunction.

Do not use irregularly-shaped discs (octagonal, heart-shaped,

business-card-size, etc.) CDs with these shapes could damage the

unit.

Storage precautions

< Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid dust and

scratches that could cause the laser pickup to “skip”.

Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high temperature

and humidity for extended periods. Long exposure to high

temperatures will warp discs.

CD-R and CD-RW discs are more sensitive to the effects of heat

and ultraviolet rays than ordinary CDs. It is important that they

are not stored in locations where they will be exposed to direct

sunlight. They should also be kept away from sources of heat, such

as radiators and heat-generating electrical devices.

Maintenance

If a disc becomes dirty, wipe its surface radially from the center

hole outward towards the outer edge with a soft, dry cloth.

< Never clean discs using chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic

sprays and fluids, and thinner. Such chemicals will do irreparable

damage to the disc’s plastic surface.

If you are in any doubt as to the care and handling of a disc, read the

precautions supplied with the disc or contact the disc manufacturer.

This unit has two modes. In Direct Mode, the iPod/iPhone menu

is shown on the iPod/iPhone screen. In Extended Mode, the iPod/

iPhone menu is shown on this unit’s screen. By default, this unit is set

to Direct Mode.

For instructions about how to change this mode, see “Changing the

display mode” on page 24.

This unit cannot output video from a connected iPod/iPhone.

< To connect an iPod/iPhone, use the USB cable supplied with the

iPod/iPhone.

An iPod shuffle connected to this port cannot be played.

Compatible iPod/iPhone Software

In case your iPod/iPhone will not work with CD-H750 or with the

remote control unit, a software update may solve the problem.

Visit the Apple website and download the latest iPod/iPhone

software.

Using an iPod/iPhone

< This unit can play audio files that are on external USB flash drives.*

USB flash drives must be formatted as FAT 16 or FAT 32, but not

NTFS.

* The USB port on this unit only supports USB flash drives (also known

as “thumb drives” and “jump drives”). It does not support standard

USB hard drives.

When more than 2000 files are recorded on the USB flash drive, the

unit might not be able to play them correctly.

File names of MP3 or WMA files should be in alphanumeric

characters. This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or double-

byte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Also, be

sure to use the file extension. (“.mp3” for MP3 files, “.wma” for WMA

files.)

MP3 files are mono or stereo MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 format. This

unit can play MP3 files with a sampling frequency of 16 kHz to 48

kHz, and a bit-rate of 8 kbps to 320 kbps.

This unit can play WMA files with a sampling frequency of 32 kHz,

44.1 kHz or 48 kHz and a bit-rate of 48 kbps to 192 kbps.

WMA stands for Windows Media Audio.

< Audio encoded at 128 kbps should sound close to regular audio

CD quality. Although this player will play lower bit-rate MP3 files,

the sound quality becomes noticeably worse at lower bit-rates.

MP3 and WMA

CAUTION

Never put the unit in standby or disconnect a USB flash

drive when it is being accessed, for example, during writing,

playback, recording or the erasure of files.

Doing so could damage the CD-H750 and the connected USB

flash drive.

USB devices that can be used with this unit

This unit can play audio files that are on external USB flash drives*.

* The USB port on this unit only supports USB flash drives (also known

as “thumb drives” and “jump drives”). It does not support standard

USB hard drives.

Compatibility

< Use a USB flash drive with power consumption of less than 500mA.

(When an iPhone is connected, it will be charged at 1A.)

Some flash memory players that charge from a USB terminal

cannot be used for playback.

Playable formats: FAT16, FAT32

< NTFS, HFS and HFS+ formats cannot be used.

Max number of playable folders: 99

< Max number of playable/recordable files: 2000

Depending on the conditions of a USB flash drive, this unit might

not be able to play the files on it or skipping might occur.

Do not use devices that have a maximum current consumption of

more than 500 mA.

Do not use devices that have security functions or other special

functions.

Do not use devices that have been divided into two or more

partitions.

Do not use a USB hub between this unit and the USB flash drive.

< Proper operation might not be possible depending on the

characteristics of the device.

This unit cannot copy or move files that are stored on the USB flash

drive.

This unit can record sound from CDs to USB flash drives in MP3 format.

Analog audio output connectors

These RCA jacks output two channels of analog audio signals.

Connect these to an amplifier or other device with audio inputs.

Connect an audio cable's white pin plug to the white (L) jack and

connect its red pin plug to the red (R) jack.

< Be sure to insert each plug securely.

To prevent humming and interference, avoid bundling the signal

interconnection cables together with the AC power cord or

speaker cables.

DIGITAL OUT audio output connectors

Digital 2-channel audio signal is output from this terminal.

When playing back files on a CD, iPod, iPhone or USB flash drive,

these output 44.1kHz/16-bit PCM signals.

Use a commercially-available optical digital cable or RCA coaxial

digital cable to connect this unit with other equipment.

Power inlet (~IN)

Insert the included power cord here. After completing all other

connections, insert the power plug into a power outlet.

Unplug the cord from the outlet when not using the unit for a

long time.

Q Use only the included power cord. Use of a different cord

could cause fire or electric shock.

When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the

remote sensor.

Turn this knob to adjust the volume of the headphones.

In CD/USB mode, use these buttons to skip tracks/files during

playback or in the stop mode of the CD or USB flash drive.

In iPod mode, use these buttons to skip songs during playback or

During playback, hold down these buttons to search for a track/file.

STANDBY/ON indicator

This lights blue when the power is on.

This lights orange when the unit is in standby.

Use this button to turn the unit on or put it in standby mode.

Connect headphones with a standard 3.5 mm (1/8") stereo plug

here.

p Point the remote control unit at the main unit’s remote sensor

from within 5 meters (16 feet) of it. Make sure that there are no

obstructions between the remote control and the main unit.

p If direct sunlight or strong artificial illumination shines on the

remote sensor, the remote control might not function. If that is the

case, move this unit to another location.

p If the remote control unit is operated near other devices that

generate infrared rays, or if other remote control devices using

infrared rays are used near the unit, it might operate incorrectly.

The other devices might also operate incorrectly.

Battery installation

1. Remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Insert two “AA” dry batteries. Make sure that the batteries are

inserted with their positive “+” and negative “_” poles positioned

correctly.

Close the cover.

Battery Replacement

If the distance required between the remote control unit and main

unit decreases, the batteries are exhausted. In this case replace the

batteries with new ones.

For more information about collection of batteries, please contact

your local municipality, your waste disposal service or the point of

sale where you purchased the items.

Use the Skip/Search (.m/,/) buttons to turn it

ON/OFF.

Each time you press a Skip/Search (.m/,/) button

the setting switches between ON and OFF.

Press the Stop (8) button to confirm the setting.

This product is compliant with the European ErP Standby Power

Regulation.

Under any of the following conditions, the unit will switch to standby

mode if no operation has occurred for 30 minutes or more.

How to turn the unit on or put it in standby

Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on or put it in

standby mode.

ANDBY/ON indicator

The power indicator lights blue when the power is on.

The power indicator lights orange when the unit is in standby.

How to select CD or USB

Every time the CD/USB button is pressed, the mode is alternated

between CD and USB.

Select USB to play files on the USB flash drive or iPod/iPhone

connected to the iPod/USB port. (Use the USB cable included with

the iPod/iPhone to connect it to the USB port.)

Basic operation

Listening through headphones

When using headphones, first lower the volume before inserting

the headphones plug into the PHONES jack. Then, use the

headphones LEVEL knob to adjust the volume.

< Even when the headphones plug is inserted in the PHONES

jack, sound is output from the analog and digital audio output

connectors.

Press the CD/USB button to select “CD”.

Press the Open/close button (L).

Place a disc on the tray with the printed label facing up.

< The disc must be placed centrally into the disc tray. If the disc

is not placed correctly, it may not be possible to open the tray

again once it has closed.

< Never place more than one disc on the tray.

< Do not stick labels or tape on the disc.

< Do not use irregularly shaped discs.

Listening to a CD

Press the Open/close button (L) to close the tray.

< Be careful not to pinch your finger.

< It takes a few seconds for the unit to load a disc. No buttons will

work during loading. Wait until the total number of tracks/files

and the total play time of the disc are displayed.

displayed.

< MP3/WMA files not contained in folders are automatically put in

the “ROOT” folder, and playback starts from the first file of the

ROOT folder.

< If there are folders that have no MP3/WMA file, the unit skips

them.

During playback of an MP3/WMA file, “title_artist_album” is

scrolled across the display.

The unit stops automatically when playback of all the tracks/files

has finished.

If you load a disc, and then press the Play button (y) (or the

SHUFFLE button on the remote control unit) without having first

closed the disc tray, the disc tray closes and playback starts.

Listening to files on a USB flash drive

You can play MP3/WMA files by connecting USB flash drive.

Press the CD/USB button to select “USB”.

“Not connected” will be displayed if no USB flash drive is

connected.

Connect an external USB flash drive to the unit.

Press the Play button (y).

Playback starts from the first file.

Press the CD/USB button to select “USB”.

Connect your iPod/iPhone using the USB cable supplied

with the iPod/iPhone.

The iPod/iPhone automatically turns on and starts playback from

the iPod/iPhone music list.

If the display mode is set to “Extended mode” (see page 24),

playback don’t start automatically.

When the iPod/iPhone is connected while CD-H750 is set to another

source, the iPod/iPhone will turn on and enter the pause mode.

< If the source is set to CD when you connect an iPod/iPhone, the

iPod/iPhone turns ON and its playback is paused.

If an

iPod/iPhone

is connected to this unit, it will only be

recharged when this unit is ON.

< Recharging will stop when the

iPod/iPhone

is fully recharged.

Recharging is not possible when this unit is in standby.

track/file, or use the numeric buttons to input the track/file

number.

For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”.

To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As

an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you

may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.)

Skipping to the next or a previous track/file

During playback, press the Skip/search buttons (.m/

,/) repeatedly until the desired track/file is found.

The selected track/file will be played from the beginning.

On the remote control unit use the Skip buttons (.//).

In stop or pause mode, press the Skip/search buttons

(.m/,/) repeatedly until the track/file you want to listen

to is found. Press the Play button (y) to start playback of the selected

track/file.

When the .m button is pressed during playback, the track/

file being played will be played from the beginning. To return

to the beginning of the previous track/file, press the .m

button twice.

Press .m when the playback time is three seconds or less to

start playback of the previous track.

< During programmed playback, the next or previous track/file in

the program is played.

Searching for a part of a track/file

During playback, hold down one of the Skip/search buttons

(.m/,/) and release it when the part you want to

listen to is found.

On the remote control unit, use the SEARCH buttons (m/,).

In USB mode, no sound is emitted while searching.

The unit stops when the end of the last track/file is reached.

If the unit is disconnected from the power supply, the programmed

In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly. The track/file

number and program number will be shown on the display.

Changing or adding a track/file to the program

In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until

the program number for which you want to change the

track/file appears on the display.

Select a track/file using the SKIP buttons (.//).

The previous track/file is replaced with the newly selected one.

If you want to add a track/file to the end of the program, press the

PROGRAM button repeatedly until “P-END" briefly appears on the

display. Then select a track/file using the SKIP buttons (.//).

The track/file is added to the program.

You can also use the numeric buttons.

Press the PROGRAM button.

The program is overwritten.

Deleting a track/file from the program

In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly

until the program number of the track to be deleted

appears on the display.

Press the CLEAR button.

The selected track/file is deleted from the program.
