レコードを持つとき、ケースから取り出すときは、音
溝部分に手を触れないように、レーベル部と外周部分
を支えて持つか、両手でレコードの外周部分を手では
さむように持ってください。

指紋やほこりがつくと、雑音や音飛びの原因となり、
レコードや針を傷めます。市販のレコードクリー
ナーなどでクリーニングしてください。レコードク
リーナー以外のベンジン、シンナーなどで絶対に拭
かないでください。これらの化学薬品で表面が侵さ
れることがあります。

レコードクリーナーを使用する場合は、音溝に沿っ
て円を描くように拭き取ってください。
o
直射日光が当たる場所や、高温多湿な場所には置か
ないでください。長時間放置するとそりなどの原因
となります。
o
レコードは、何枚も積み重ねたり、重いものをのせ
たりしないでください。また、斜めにして長時間放
置しないでください。そりや破損の原因となります。
o
音溝部は、硬いものに直接触れないようにしてくだ
さい。傷の原因となります。
o
再生が終わったレコードは、必ずケースに入れて保
管してください。そのまま放置すると、そりやキズ
の原因となります。
o
ヒビが入ったレコードは使用しないでください。

さい。特に再生中は、振動でノイズが発生したり、
物が落下する恐れがあります。

直射日光が当たる場所や暖房器具の近くなど、温度
が高くなるところに置かないでください。また、ア
ンプなど熱を発生する機器の上には置かないでくだ
さい。変色や変形、故障の原因となります。

り付けます。

モータープーリーにベルトをかけます。

ゴムがねじれないように注意してください。

下図のようにプーリーカバーの小さい切り欠きを
本体の小さい突起に合わせてください。位置が合
わないと、プーリーカバーが傾きます。

使用してください。

み、右に回しながらゆっくり押して装着してくだ
さい。

ナットを回して固定してください。

水平に設置されているかを確認するためには、市販の
ターンテーブル用水準器等をご使用いただくことをお
勧めします。もしも傾いている場合は、以下の手順で
脚の高さを調節して本機を水平にしてください。

傾きが大きすぎる場合、以下の方法では補正できな
いことがあります。

下の手順でトーンアームの高さを調節してください。

で、台座の 5 マークにトーンアーム支持部にあ
る基準線 ( 白線 ) を合わせるように固定してくだ
さい。

き、ヒンジごと本体から外します。さらにターンテー
ブルカバーからヒンジを外します。
ターンテーブルカバーの前端を持って、カバーが止ま
るまで軽く持ち上げて開きます。
ターンテーブルカバーは開いたままにの状態になりま
す。

カートリッジの交換は、ヘッドシェルをトーンアーム
から取り外して作業を行ってください。
o
本機に装着されているカートリッジは、オーディオテ
クニカ製「AT100E」(VM 型 ) と同等品です。( 装
着しているカートリッジの交換針本体色は緑色になり
ます。オーディテクニカのマークは付いていません。)
※VM 型は MM 型と同じ特性です。
o
カートリッジ針のプロテクターを下げて作業するこ
とをお勧めします。

レコード針は精密な部品ですので、針先が曲がった
り破損したりしないように、丁寧に扱ってください。
曲がったり破損したりすると、音溝を正確にトレー
スできなくなり、レコードを傷めたり、故障の原因
となります。

レコード針が汚れたら、市販の針先 ( スタイラス )
クリーナー等でクリーニング清掃してください。
o
針先を硬いもので強くこすったりしないでください。
また、ベンジン、シンナーなどで拭かないでくださ
い。劣化や破損の原因となります。
o
TN-550CA/B にカートリッジは付属しません。
オーディオテクニカ製交換針（ATN100E）をお求め
ください。
o
本機に装着されているカートリッジは、オーディオテ
クニカ製「AT100E」(VM 型 ) と同等品です。( 装
着しているカートリッジの交換針本体色は緑色になり
ます。オーディテクニカのマークは付いていません。)
※VM 型は MM 型と同じ特性です。
o
交換方法は、交換針の取扱説明書に従って交換して
ください。
注意
o
突然大きな音が出ることがありますので、機器の電
源を切ってから交換してください。

手や機器を傷付けないよう、ご注意ください。

小さなお子様があやまってレコード針を飲み込まな
いよう、ご注意ください。

他の全ての接続が終わったら、付属の AC アダプ

に接続してください。
次に、AC アダプターのプラグを交流 100V の電
源コンセントに差し込んでください。

長期間使用しないときは、コンセントから電
源プラグを抜いておいてください。

付属の RCA オーディオケーブルのアース線を使
用して、本機のアース端子とアンプなどのアース
端子を接続します。
o
安全アースではありません。
オーディオケーブルのアース線を本機のアース端
子に接続している場合は、アース線を外すことで
ノイズ音が少なくなることがあります。また、逆
の場合もありますので、ノイズ音が少なくなる接
続方法をお選びください。

カートリッジの信号を直接アナログ音声出力端子
(L/R) から出力します。
付属の RCA オーディオケーブルを使って、各機
器と本機の出力端子を接続してください。
PHONO 入力端子のあるアンプなどに接続してく
ださい。付属カートリッジ (MM タイプ ) を使う
場合は、MM 用の PHONO 入力端子に接続して
ください。MC カートリッジをご使用になる場合
は、MC 用の PHONO 入力端子に接続してくだ
さい。機器によっては、設定によって PHONO
入力端子を MM 用と MC 用に切り換える場合も
あります。
詳しくは、お使いの機器の取扱説明書を参照して
ください。

レコードの再生中は、ほこりを防ぐためにター
ンテーブルカバーを閉める事をお勧めします。

再生中にターンテーブルの回転を止めないでくださ
い。
レコードの再生時に音を大きくしすぎると、ハ
ウリングが起こることがあります。その場合は、
アンプの音量を下げてください。

Handling records
Holding records
When holding a record or removing it from its sleeve, avoid
touching the grooves by holding the record by its label and
edge with one hand or by holding it by its edge with both
hands.

Notes about record styluses
o Record styluses are precision parts, so handle them care-
fully to avoid bending or damaging their tips. If a stylus
becomes bent or damaged, it might not be able to follow
the audio groove precisely and could damage records or
cause other malfunction.
o If a stylus becomes dirty, use a commercially available
stylus cleaner or similar product to clean it.
o Do not rub the stylus tip forcefully with anything hard.
Do not wipe the stylus with thinner or other chemicals.
Doing so could harm it.
Replacing the stylus
o The TN-550CA/B does not include a cartridge.
Please use an Audio-Technica ATN100E replacement needle.
o The cartridge installed in this unit is equivalent to the
Audio-Technica AT100E VM Type cartridge. (The replace-
ment needle for the installed cartridge is green. It does not
have an Audio-Technica mark.)
Note: VM type cartridges have the same characteristics as
MM type cartridges.
o Follow the replacement instructions in the manual of the
replacement stylus.
CAUTION
o Since loud noises could suddenly occur, put the unit into
standby before changing the stylus.
o Be careful not to hurt your hand or the equipment.
o Be careful not to allow small children to accidentally swal-
low styluses.
Cleaning
o Fingerprints and dust on a record can cause noise and
the sound to skip, as well as damage the record itself and
the stylus. Use a commercially available record cleaner to
clean records. Do not use thinner or anything other than
a record cleaner. Such chemicals could harm the surface
of the record.
o When using a record cleaner, wipe the surface of the
record in a circular motion, following the grooves.
Precautions
o Do not leave records in places that are exposed to direct
sunlight or are very hot or very humid. Leaving a record in
such a condition for a long time could result in warping
or other damage.
o Do not stack multiple records or place heavy objects on
top of them. Do not leave records at an angle for long
amounts of time either. Doing so could result in warping
or other damage.
o Do not allow hard objects to directly touch the audio
grooves. Doing so could cause scratches.
o After you finish playing a record, always put it back into
its sleeve for storage. Leaving a record unprotected could
result in warping or scratching.
o Do not use cracked records.

Preparing the record player
Keep the unit in standby while setting it up (

1 Place it on a at surface.
2 Install the turntable.
Align the turntable with the center shaft and install it.
o Place the large side of the hole down.

3 Loop the belt around the motor pulley.
Loop the included rubber belt around the outside of
the turntable, and then loop the belt around the motor
pulley.
o Be careful not to let the rubber become twisted.
o Rotate the turntable several times to make sure that
it is secure.

4 Install the pulley cover.
Align the small cutout in the pulley cover with the small
protuberance on the pulley, as shown in the illustra-
tion below. If these are not aligned, the pulley cover
will slant.

5 Place the turntable mat on the
turntable.
Place the mat that is included with the turntable on it
before use.
6 Install the counterweight.
Place the counterweight over the end of the tone arm,
and press it gently as you turn it right to attach it.

7 Install the headshell.
Insert the headshell on the end of the tone arm and
turn the nut to secure it in place.

Confirming levelness and fine-tuning
In order to confirm the level placement of the turntable, we
recommend using, for example, a commercially-available
turntable leveling device. If the turntable is not level, follow
the procedures below to adjust the heights of the feet to level
the unit.
o If the slant is too great, the following method might not
be able to correct it.
1 Turn the foot on the low side counter-
clockwise to remove it.
2 Attach one of the included washers.

4 Press down on the four corners of the
unit to conrm that the weight is dis-
tributed evenly on the four feet.
If one of the feet is wobbly, attach a washer to it as
explained above and adjust its height.

Adjusting the tone arm height
Follow the procedures below to adjust the tone arm height
if it is not level during record playback after changing the
cartridge or headshell.
1 Place a record on the turntable, and
put the record needle on the edge of
the record.
o Do not let the turntable turn.
2 Insert the included hex wrench into
the height adjustment screw hole and
turn it counterclockwise to unlock the
tone arm base.

4 Turn the hex wrench clockwise to lock

the pedestal. Align the guideline (white) on the tone arm
base to the 5 mark on the pedestal before locking it.
5 Play the record and confirm that the
tone arm is now level.

Changing the cartridge
To change the cartridge, first remove the headshell from the
tone arm.
o The cartridge installed in this unit is equivalent to the
Audio-Technica AT100E VM Type cartridge. (The replace-
ment needle for the installed cartridge is green. It does not

VM type cartridges have the same characteristics as MM type
cartridges.
o We recommend that you lower the cartridge stylus pro-
tector before doing this task.

Confirm that the power plug of the AC adapter is
plugged into a power outlet.
o Unplug the power cord from the outlet when you
are not planning to use the unit for an extended
period of time.
o Do not use any AC adapter other than the one

Use the grounding wire of the included RCA audio
cable to connect this connector to the grounding con-
nector of the amplifier, for example.
o This is NOT an electrical safety ground.
o If connecting the grounding wire of the audio
cable to the grounding connector of this unit does
not reduce noise, disconnect the grounding wire
and check the sound again. Use the method (con-
nected/disconnected) that has the least noise.

Analog audio output connectors (L/R)
The cartridge signal is output directly through the ana-
log audio output connectors (L/R).
Use the included RCA audio cable to connect other
equipment to the output connectors of this unit.
Use these when connecting to an amplifier or other
equipment that has PHONO input connectors. When
using the included cartridge (equivalent to MM), con-
nect them to PHONO input connectors compatible
with MM type input. When using an MC cartridge, con-
nect them to PHONO input connectors compatible
with MC type input. The PHONO input connectors of
some equipment might be settable for use with either
MM or MC type input.
For details, refer to the operation manual of that
equipment.
o The TN-550CA/B does not include a cartridge.

Troubleshooting
If you experience a problem with this unit, please check the
following items before requesting service. Something other
than this unit could also be the cause of the problem. Please
also check that the connected devices are also being used
properly.
If it still does not operate correctly, contact the retailer where
you purchased the unit.
No power.
e Confirm that the AC adapter is plugged into an outlet.
Then, press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit
on (page 16).
Volume is low.
e Confirm the connections (page 16).
Playback is not possible; there is noise.
e Raise the protector (page 17).
e Clean the stylus (page 12).
e If the stylus is worn-out, replace it (page 12). The lifes-
pan of a needle depends on the use conditions, but it is
usually about 300 hours.
e Place the unit as far away as possible from TVs,
microwave ovens and other devices that emit electro-
magnetic waves.
Noise occurs when a record is playing
e Noise could occur if the stylus pressure is higher than
cartridge's specified value. Readjust the stylus pressure
so that it is the specified value (page 13).
The pitch is wrong.
e Set the rotation speed (RPM) to match the record (page
17).
The sound is skipping.
e Vibrations will cause skipping. Place this unit in a stable
location.
e If the record is dirty, wipe it clean.
e Do not use scratched records.
e Balance the tone arm and readjust the stylus pressure
(page 13).
If the stylus pressure is lower than the value designated
by the cartridge, skipping is more likely to occur.

10) Évitez de marcher sur le cordon d’alimentation et de le
pincer, en particulier au niveau des fiches, des prises sec-
teur, et du point de sortie de l’appareil.
11) N’utilisez que des fixations/accessoires spécifiés par le

12) Utilisez-le uniquement avec des chariots, socles, trépieds,

13) Débranchez cet appareil en cas d’orage ou de non utilisa-
tion prolongée.
14) Confiez toute réparation à des techniciens de mainte-
nance qualifiés. Une réparation est nécessaire si l’appareil
a été endommagé d’une quelconque façon, par exemple
si le cordon ou la fiche d’alimentation est endommagé,
si du liquide a été renversé sur l’appareil ou si des objets
sont tombés dedans, si l’appareil a été exposé à la pluie
ou à l’humidité, s’il ne fonctionne pas normalement, ou
s’il est tombé.
o L’appareil tire un courant nominal de veille de la prise
secteur quand son interrupteur POWER ou STANDBY/
ON n’est pas en position ON.
o La fiche secteur est utilisée comme dispositif de
déconnexion et doit donc toujours rester disponible.
o Des précautions doivent être prises en cas d’utilisa-
tion d’écouteurs ou d’un casque avec le produit car
une pression sonore excessive (volume trop fort)
dans les écouteurs ou dans le casque peut causer une
perte auditive.
