Intended use:

This oscillometric blood pressure monitor is intended for

measuring non-invasive blood pressure in people aged 12 years or

older.

It is clinically validated in patients with hypertension, hypotension,

diabetes, pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, atherosclerosis, end-stage

renal disease, obesity and the elderly.

The device can detect an irregular pulse suggestive of Atrial Fibril-

lation (AF). Please note that the device is not intended to diagnose

AF. A diagnosis of AF can only be confirmed by ECG. The patient

is advised to see a physician.

This device was developed in collaboration with physicians and

clinical tests carried out prove its measurement accuracy to be of

a very high standard.*

Microlife AFIBsens is the world’s leading digital blood pressure

measurement technology for the detection of atrial fibrillation (AF)

and arterial hypertension. These are the two top risk factors of

getting a stroke or heart disease. It is important to detect AF and

hypertension at an early stage, even though you may not experi-

ence any symptoms. AF screening in general and thus also with

the Microlife AFIB algorithm, is recommended for people of 65

years and older. The AFIB algorithm indicates that atrial fibrillation

may be present. For this reason, it is recommended that you visit

your doctor when the device gives an AFIB signal during your

blood pressure measurement. The AFIB algorithm of Microlife has

been clinically investigated by several prominent clinical investiga-

tors and showed that the device detects patients with AFIB at a

certainty of 97-100%. 1,2

1. Appearance of the Atrial Fibrillation Indicator for

early Detection (Active only in MAM mode)

This device is able to detect atrial fibrillation (AF). This symbol BM

indicates that atrial fibrillation was detected during the measure-

ment. Please refer to the next paragraph for information regarding

the consultation with your doctor.

What is Atrial Fibrillation (AF)?

Normally, your heart contracts and relaxes to a regular beat.

Certain cells in your heart produce electrical signals that cause the

heart to contract and pump blood. Atrial fibrillation occurs when

rapid, disorganized electrical signals are present in the heart’s two

upper chambers, called the atria; causing them to contract irregu-

larly (this is called fibrillation). Atrial fibrillation is the most common

form of heart arrhythmia. It often causes no symptoms, yet it

significantly increases your risk of stroke. You’ll need a doctor to

help you control the problem.

Who should be screened for Atrial Fibrillation?

AF screening is recommended for people over 65 years of age,

since the chance of having a stroke increases with age. AF

screening is also recommended for people from the age of 50

years who have high blood pressure (e.g. SYS higher than 159 or

DIA higher than 99) as well as those with diabetes, coronary heart

failure or for those who have previously had a stroke.

In young people or in pregnancy AF screening is not recom-

mended as it could generate false results and unnecessary

anxiety. In addition, young individuals with AF have a low risk of

getting stroke as compared to elder people.

Risk factors you can control

Early diagnosis of AF followed by adequate treatment can signifi-

cantly reduce the risk of getting stroke. Knowing your blood pres-

sure and knowing whether you have AF is the first step in proactive

stroke prevention.

2. Using the device for the first time

Inserting the batteries

After you have unpacked your device, first insert the batteries. The

battery compartment AK is on the bottom of the device. Insert the

batteries (4 x 1.5 V, size AA), thereby observing the indicated

polarity.

Setting the date and time

1. After the new batteries are fitted, the year number flashes in the

display. You can set the year by pressing the M-button 3. To

confirm and then set the month, press the Bluetooth/Time

button 4.

2. Press the M-button to set the month. Press the Bluetooth/Time

button to confirm and then set the day.

Information for the doctor on frequent appearance of the

atrial fibrillation indicator

This device is an oscillometric blood pressure monitor that also

analyses pulse irregularity during measurement. The device is

clinically tested.

The AFIB symbol is displayed after the measurement, if atrial

fibrillation occurred during measuring. If the AFIB symbol

appears after having performed a full blood pressure measure-

ment episode (triplicate measurements), the patient is advised

to perform another measurement episode (triplicate measure-

ments). If the AFIB symbol appears again, we recommend the

patient to seek medical advice.

If the AFIB-symbol appears on the screen of the blood pressure

monitor, it indicates the possible presence of atrial fibrillation.

The atrial fibrillation diagnosis however, must be made by a

cardiologist based on ECG interpretation.

Keep the arm still during measuring to avoid false readings.

This device may not or wrongly detect atrial fibrillation in

people with pacemakers or defibrillators.

In the presence of atrial fibrillation the diastolic blood pres-

sure value may not be accurate.

In the presence of atrial fibrillation using MAM-mode is

recommended for more reliable blood pressure measure-

ment.

3. Follow the instructions above to set the day, hour and minutes.

4. Once you have set the minutes and pressed the Bluetooth/Time

button, the date and time are set and the time is displayed.

5. If you want to change the date and time, press and hold the

Bluetooth/Time button for approx. 7-8 seconds until the year

number starts to flash. Now you can enter the new values as

described above.

Selecting the correct cuff

Microlife offers different cuff sizes. Select the cuff size to match the

circumference of your upper arms (measured by close fitting in the

centre of the upper arm).



Contact your local Microlife Service if the enclosed cuff AL does

not fit.



Connect the cuff to the device by inserting the cuff connector AN

into the cuff socket 6 as far as it will go.

Selecting the user

This device allows to store the results for 2 individual users.



Select the intended user (user 1 or user 2 BN) by pressing the

user button 5.

Selecting standard or MAM mode

Before each measurement, select standard (single measurement)

or MAM mode (automatic triple measurement). In MAM mode,

3 measurements are automatically taken in succession and the

result is then automatically analysed and displayed. Because the

blood pressure constantly fluctuates, a result obtained in this way

is more reliable than when a single measurement is performed.

To select MAM mode, slide the MAM switch 7 upwards to

position «3» until the MAM-symbol BO appears on the display.

To change to standard mode (single measurement), slide the

MAM switch downwards to position «1».

The bottom, right hand section of the display shows a 1, 2 or 3

to indicate which of the 3 measurements is currently being

taken.

There is a break of 15 seconds between the measurements.

A count down indicates the remaining time.

The individual results are not displayed. Your blood pressure

will only be displayed after all 3 measurements are taken.

Do not remove the cuff between measurements.

If one of the individual measurements was questionable, a

fourth one is automatically taken.

3. Checklist for taking a reliable measurement



Avoid activity, eating or smoking immediately before the

measurement.



Sit down on a back-supported chair and relax for 5 minutes.

Keep your feet flat on the floor and do not cross your legs.



Always measure on the same arm (normally left). It is recom-

mended that doctors perform double arm measurements on a

patients first visit in order to determine which arm to measure in

the future. The arm with the higher blood pressure should be

measured.



Remove close-fitting garments from the upper arm. To avoid

constriction, shirt sleeves should not be rolled up - they do not

interfere with the cuff if they are laid flat.



Always ensure that the correct cuff size is used (marking on the

cuff).

Fit the cuff closely, but not too tight.

Make sure that the cuff is positioned 1-2 cm above the

elbow.

The artery mark on the cuff (ca.3 cm long bar) must lie over

the artery which runs down the inner side of the arm.

Support your arm so it is relaxed.

Ensure that the cuff is at the same height as your heart.

4. Taking a blood pressure measurement



Select standard (single measurement) or MAM mode (auto-

matic triple measurement): see details in chapter 2.»



Press the ON/OFF button 1 to start the measurement.

Only use Microlife cuffs.

If you buy a spare Microlife cuff, please remove the cuff

connector AN from the cuff tube AM from the cuff supplied

with the original device and insert this cuff connector into

the tube of the spare cuff (valid for all cuff sizes).

Before each measurement, ensure that the correct user is

selected.

AF detection is only activated in MAM mode.

The cuff will now pump up automatically. Relax, do not move

and do not tense your arm muscles until the measurement

result is displayed. Breathe normally and do not talk.



The cuff fit check BT on the display indicates that the cuff is

perfectly placed. If the icon BT-A appears, the cuff is fitted

suboptimally, but it is still ok to measure.



When the correct pressure is reached, the pumping stops and

the pressure falls gradually. If the required pressure was not

reached, the device will automatically pump some more air into

the cuff.



During the measurement, the pulse indicator BS flashes in the

display.



The result, comprising the systolic AP and the diastolic AQ blood

pressure and the pulse rate AR are displayed. Note also the

explanations on further display symbols in this booklet.



When the device has finished measuring, remove the cuff.



Switch off the device. (The monitor does switch off automati-

cally after approx. 1 min.).

Manual inflation

In case of high systolic blood pressure (e.g. above 135

mmHg), it can be an advantage to set the pressure individually.

Press the ON/OFF button after the monitor has been pumped up

to a level of approx. 30 mmHg (shown on the display). Keep the

button pressed until the pressure is about 40 mmHg above the

expected systolic value – then release the button.

How not to store a reading

As soon as the reading is displayed press and hold the ON/OFF

button 1 until «M» BP is flashing. Confirm to delete the reading by

pressing the Bluetooth/Time button 4.

How do I evaluate my blood pressure

The LED traffic light indicator on the left-hand side of the display

8 indicates within which range the measured blood pressure lies.

The value is either within the optimum (green), elevated (yellow) or

high (red) range. The classification corresponds to the following

ranges defined by international guidelines (ESH, ESC, JSH). Data

in mmHg.

The higher value is the one that determines the evaluation.

Example: a blood pressure value of 140/80 mmHg or a value of

130/90 mmHg indicates «blood pressure too high».

Average Indicator «MyCheck»

This symbol CT indicates after each measurement, if the most

recent measured value lies below, above or on the same level as

your stored average value (see also chapter «5. Data memory»).

Appearance of the irregular heartbeat (IHB) symbol

This symbol BL indicates that an irregular heartbeat was detected.

In this case, the measured blood pressure may deviate from your

actual blood pressure values. It is recommended to repeat the

measurement.

AF detection is only activated in MAM mode.

You can stop the measurement at any time by pressing the

ON/OFF button or open the cuff (e.g. if you feel uneasy or

an unpleasant pressure sensation).

This monitor is specially tested for use in pregnancy and

pre-eclampsia. When you detect unusual high readings in

pregnancy, you should measure after a short while again

(eg. 1 hour). If the reading is still too high, consult your

doctor or gynecologist.

In pregnancy the AFIB symbol can be ignored.

«CL» is displayed when the reading is deleted from the

memory successfully.

If the measured Systole or Diastole is more than 5mmHg

higher than the stored average, the arrow shows upwards.

If the measured Systole or Diastole is more than 5mmHg

lower than the stored average, the arrow shows down-

wards.

If the measured Systole and Diastole do not differ by more

than 5mmHg from the stored average, the arrow shows

straight on.

If the measured systole and diastole differ in different direc-

tions from the stored average, this is indicated first with the

systole figure flashing, together with the up or down arrow

for two seconds. Thereafter, the diastole figure flashes with

the arrow pointing up or down for two seconds.

5. Data memory

This device automatically stores up to 99 measurement values for

each of the 2 users.

Select either user 1 or 2 by pressing the user button 5.

Viewing the average of the last 28 days

Press the M-button 3 again. The display first shows «M» BP and

«28A», which stands for the average measurement values of the

last 28 days.

Viewing the clinical blood pressure average «MyBP»

Pressing the M-button 3 briefly when the device is switched off,

allows you to see the average clinically relevant blood pressure

«MyBP». The display first shows «M» BP and «MyBP» BQ. This

average is only shown when 12 clinically relevant measurement

values in the last 28 days have been performed.

Viewing the stored single values

Pressing the M-button again, allows you to see the last performed

measurement. The display first shows «M» BP and a value, e.g.

«M17». This means that there are 17 single values in the memory.

Pressing the M-button again displays the previous value. Pressing

the M-button repeatedly enables you to move from one stored

value to another.

Clearing all values

Make sure the correct user is activated.

If you are sure that you want to permanently remove all stored

values, hold down the M-button (the device must have been

switched off beforehand) until «CL ALL» appears and then

release the button. To permanently clear the memory, press the

Blutetooth/Time button while «CL ALL» is flashing. Individual

values cannot be cleared.

6. Battery indicator and battery change

Low battery

When the batteries are approximately ¾ empty the battery symbol

AS will flash as soon as the device is switched on (partly filled

battery displayed). Although the device will continue to measure

reliably, you should obtain replacement batteries.

Flat battery - replacement

When the batteries are flat, the battery symbol AS will flash as soon

as the device is switched on (flat battery displayed). You cannot

take any further measurements and must replace the batteries.

1. Open the battery compartment AK at the back of the device.

2. Replace the batteries – ensure correct polarity as shown by the

symbols in the compartment.

3. To set date and time, follow the procedure described in Section

«2. Using the device for the first time».

Information for the doctor in case of repeated appearance of

the IHB symbol:

This device is an oscillometric blood pressure monitor that also

measures the pulse during blood pressure measurement and

indicates when the heart rate is irregular.

Blood pressure readings with suboptimal cuff fit BT-A are

Only measurements that were performed in the morning

between 05:00-10:59 or in the evening between 17:00-

22:59 are considered.

A maximum of 4 readings per day are considered (2 from

the morning and 2 from the evening).

Measurements performed in standard mode and in MAM-

mode are considered in the average, when they have been

performed during the right time of the day.

Measurements performed in MAM-mode or single standard

mode are both classed as single measurements for working

out the «MyBP average».

Blood pressure readings with suboptimal cuff fit BT-A are

not considered in the average value.



Pay attention that the maximum memory capacity of 99

memories is not exceeded.

When the 99 memory is full,

the oldest value is automatically overwritten with the

100

value. Values should be evaluated by a doctor before

the memory capacity is reached – otherwise data will be lost.

Cancel deletion: press ON/OFF button 1 while «CL

ALL» is flashing.

The memory retains all values although date and time must

be reset – the year number therefore flashes automatically

after the batteries are replaced.

Which batteries and which procedure?

Using rechargeable batteries

You can also operate this device using rechargeable batteries.

7. Using a mains adapter

You can operate this device using the Microlife mains adapter (DC

6V, 600 mA).

1. Plug the adapter cable into the mains adapter socket AT in the

blood pressure monitor.

2. Plug the adapter plug into the wall socket.

When the mains adapter is connected, no battery current is

consumed.

8. Bluetooth® Function

Use the Bluetooth® function to transfer data to «Microlife

Connected Health+» App on a smartphone (Android OS or iOS).

Bluetooth® operations

Manually turn on Bluetooth®: Press Bluetooth/Time button 4

to activate Bluetooth®, Bluetooth® symbol AO on display will

blink.

Automatically turn on Bluetooth®: Bluetooth® will activate auto-

matically after a measurement. Bluetooth® symbol AO on

display will blink.

Manually turn off Bluetooth®: Press ON/OFF button 1 to turn

off Bluetooth®.

Automatically turn off Bluetooth®: Bluetooth® will turn off auto-

matically after 2 minutes if a smartphone does not connect to

the device.

Bluetooth® pairing & app setup

1. Open «Microlife Connected Health+» App on the smartphone

(Make sure the app is running in the foreground, not in the back-

ground.)

2. Turn on Bluetooth® manually to connect device to smartphone.

3. When smartphone finds the device, the smartphone will show a

message to pair with the device. Confirm on smartphone to

complete pairing. Cancel to abort pairing.

4. After pairing, the app will show a message to setup the device

user selection (1 or 2) to the app user profile. Confirm to

proceed with setup. Cancel to abort setup (if user selection is

incorrect).

5. After setup, the device will automatically exchange measure-

ment data and date/time settings with the app. Bluetooth® turns

off automatically after data exchange.

Use 4 new, long-life 1.5 V, size AA alkaline batteries.

Do not use batteries beyond their date of expiry.

Remove batteries if the device is not going to be used for a

prolonged period.

Only use «NiMH» type reusable batteries.

Batteries must be removed and recharged when the flat

battery symbol appears. They should not remain inside the

device as they may become damaged (total discharge as a

result of low use of the device, even when switched off).

Always remove the rechargeable batteries if you do not

intend to use the device for a week or more.

Batteries cannot be charged in the blood pressure monitor.

Recharge batteries in an external charger and observe the

information regarding charging, care and durability.

Only use the Microlife mains adapter available as an orig-

inal accessory appropriate for your supply voltage.

Ensure that neither the mains adapter nor the cable are

damaged.

In case of Bluetooth® connection error, turn off device Blue-

tooth®, wait for a minute, then re-try Bluetooth® connection.

Refer to chapter «10. Error Messages» for details.

9. PC-Link functions

This device can be used in conjunction with a personal computer

(PC) running the Microlife Blood Pressure Analyzer+ (BPA+) soft-

ware. The memory data can be transferred to the PC by

connecting the monitor via a cable.

If no download-voucher and cable is included download the BPA+

software from www.microlife.com/software and use a Micro-USB

cable.

10.Error Messages

If an error occurs during the measurement, the measurement is

interrupted and an error message, e.g. «Err 3», is displayed.

The measurement results given by this device is not a diag-

nosis. It is not replacing the need for the consultation of a physi-

cian, especially if not matching the patient’s symptoms. Do not

rely on the measurement result only, always consider other

potentially occurring symptoms and the patient’s feedback.

Calling a doctor or an ambulance is advised if needed.

Do not use this device if the patient’s condition meets the following

contra-indications, to avoid inaccurate measurements or injuries.

The device is not intended for measuring blood pressure in

pediatric patients of age younger than 12 years old (children,

infant, or neonates).

Presence of significant cardiac arrhythmia during measurement

may interfere with blood pressure measurement and affect the

reliability of blood pressure readings. Consult with your doctor

about whether the device is suitable for use in this case.

The device measures blood pressure using a pressured cuff. If

the measuring limb suffers from injuries (for example open

wounds) or under conditions or treatments (for example intrave-

nous drip) making it unsuitable for surface contact or pressur-

ization, do not use the device, to avoid worsening of the injuries

or conditions.

Patient motions during measurement may interfere with the

measurement process and influence results.

Avoid taking measurements of patients with conditions,

diseases, and susceptible to environment conditions that lead

to incontrollable motions (e.g. trembling or shivering) and

inability to communicate clearly (for example children and

unconscious patients).

The device uses oscillometric method to determine blood pres-

sure. The arm being measure should have normal perfusion.

The device is not intended to be used on a limb with restricted

or impaired blood circulation. If you suffer with perfusion or

blood disorders, consult your doctor before using the device.

Avoid taking measurement on the arm on the side of a mastec-

tomy or lymph node clearance.

Do not use this device in a moving vehicle (for example in a car

or on an aircraft).

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided,

could result in death or serious injury.

This device may only be used for the intended uses described

in this Instructions for Use. The manufacturer cannot be held

liable for damage caused by incorrect application.

Do not change the patient medication and treatment based the

result of one or multiple measurements. Treatment and medica-

tion changes should be prescribed only by a medical profes-

sional.

Inspect the device, cuff, and other parts for damage. DO NOT

USE the device, cuff or parts if they appear damaged or oper-

ating abnormally.

Blood flow of the arm is temporarily interrupted during measure-

ment. Extended interruption of blood flow reduces peripheral

circulation and may cause tissue injury. Beware of signs (for

example tissue discoloration) of impeded peripheral circulation

if taking measurements continuously or for an extended period

of time.

Prolonged exposure to cuff pressure will reduce peripheral

perfusion and may lead to injury. Avoid situations of extended

cuff pressurization beyond normal measurements. In the case

of abnormally long pressurization, abort the measurement or

loose the cuff to depressurize the cuff.

Do not use this device in oxygen rich environment or near flam-

mable gas.

The device is not water resistant or water proof. Do not spill or

immerse the device in water or other liquids.

Do not dissemble or attempt to service the device, accessory

and parts, during use or in storage. Access to the device

internal hardware and software is prohibited. Unauthorized

access and servicing of the device, during use or in storage,

may compromise the safety and performance of the device.

Keep the device away from children and people incapable of

operating the device. Beware of the risks of accidental ingestion

of small parts and of strangulation with the cables and tubes of

this device and accessories.

Ensure that children do not use this device unsupervised;

some parts are small enough to be swallowed. Be aware of

the risk of strangulation in case this device is supplied with

cables or tubes.

Contra-indications

WARNING

Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,

may result in minor or moderate injury to the user or patient, or

cause damage to the device or other property.

The device is intended only for measuring blood pressure at

upper arm. Do not measure other sites because the reading

does not reflect your blood pressure accurately.

After a measurement is completed, loosen the cuff and rest for

> 5 minutes to restore limb perfusion, before taking another

measurement.

Do not use this device with other medical electrical (ME) equip-

ment simultaneously. This may cause device malfunction or

measurement inaccuracies.

Do not use this device in proximity of high frequency (HF)

surgical equipment, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equip-

ment, and computerized tomography (CT) scanners. This may

cause device malfunction and measurement inaccuracies.

Use and store the device, cuff and parts in temperature and

humidity conditions specified in the «Technical Specifications».

Usage and storage of the device, cuff and parts in conditions

outside ranges given in the «Technical Specifications» may

results in device malfunction and the safety of usage.

Protect the device and accessories from the following to avoid

damaging the device:

water, other liquids, and moisture

extreme temperatures

impacts and vibrations

direct sunlight

contamination and dust

This device has 2 user settings. Please ensure it is cleaned and

disinfected between users to prevent any cross contamination.

Stop using this device and cuff and consult with your doctor if

you experience skin irritation or discomfort.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Information

This device is compliant with EN60601-1-2: 2015 Electromagnetic

Disturbances standard.

This device is not certified to be used in vicinity of High Frequency

(HF) medical equipment.

Do not use this device close to strong electromagnetic fields and

portable radio frequency communication devices (for example

microwave oven and mobile devices). Keep a minimum distance

of 3.3 m from such devices when using this device.

Device care

Clean the device only with a soft, dry cloth.

Cleaning the cuff

Carefully remove spots on the cuff with a damp cloth and soapsuds.

Accuracy test

We recommend this device is tested for accuracy every 2 years or

after mechanical impact (e.g. being dropped). Please contact your

local Microlife-Service to arrange the test (see foreword).

Disposal

12.Guarantee

This device is covered by a 5 year guarantee from the date of

purchase. During this guarantee period, at our discretion, Microlife

will repair or replace the defective product free of charge.

Opening or altering the device invalidates the guarantee.

The following items are excluded from the guarantee:

Transport costs and risks of transport.

Damage caused by incorrect application or non-compliance

with the instructions for use.

Damage caused by leaking batteries.

Damage caused by accident or misuse.

Packaging/storage material and instructions for use.

Denna oscillometriska blodtrycksmätaren är avsedd för icke-

invasiv mätning av blodtrycket hos patienter, 12 år och äldre.

Blodtrycksmätaren är kliniskt validerad/godkänd för patienter med

högt blodtryck, diabetes, graviditet, havandeskapsförgiftning,

ateroskleros (åderförkalkning), njursjukdom i slutskedet, fetma

och äldre.

Utrustningen kan upptäcka en oregelbunden puls som tyder på

förmaksflimmer AF. Notera att utrustningen Inte är avsedd för att

ställa en diagnos för förmaksflimmer. En diagnos för AF kan

1. Om indikatorn för förmaksflimmer visas (Aktiv

Instrumentet kan upptäcka förmaksflimmer. Den här symbolen BM,

indikerar att förmaksflimmer har upptäckts vid blodtrycksmät-

ningen. Var god se nästa paragraf för information till läkare.

Vad är förmaksflimmer (AF)?

Vid normal hjärtrytm drar sig hjärtmuskeln regelbundet samman

för att därefter slappna av. Vissa celler i kroppen framkallar elek-

triska signaler som får hjärtat att dra sig samman och pumpa runt

blodet. Förmaksflimmer uppstår då snabba, oregelbundna elek-

triska signaler påverkar hjärtats två övre hålrum, de så kallade

förmaken, och får dem att dra sig samman snabbt och oregel-

bundet (så kallat flimmer eller fibrillering). Förmaksflimmer är den

vanligaste formen av hjärtarytmi. Det orsakar ofta inga symtom,

men det ökar betydligt risken för stroke. Du behöver hjälp av en

läkare för att hålla problemet under kontroll.

Vem skall screenas för förmaksflimmer?

AF screening rekommenderas för personer över 65 år, då risk för

stroke ökar med åldern. AF screening rekommenderas för

personer från 50 år om de har högt blodtryck (t ex SYS över 159

och DIA högre än 99) samt de med diabetes, hjärtsvikt eller för de

personer som tidigare haft en stroke.

För unga personer och för gravida rekommenderas ej AF scre-

ening eftersom det kan ge falska värden och onödig oro. Det kan

tilläggas att unga personer med AF har låg risk för att få stroke

jämfört med äldre.

Riskfaktorer du kan kontrollera

Daglig diagnos (kontroll) av AF och adekvat behandling kan signi-

fikant reducera risken att få stroke. Kännedom om Ditt blodtryck

och kunskap om Du har AF är det första steget i att aktivt före-

bygga stroke.

2. Användning av instrumentet första gången

Lägga i batterier

Packa upp instrumentet och lägg i batterierna. Batterifacket AK

finns på instrumentets undersida. Lägg i batterierna (4 x 1.5 V,

storlek AA), se till att polerna placeras korrekt.

Inställning av tid och datum

1. Årssiffran blinkar i displayen när nya batterier är inlagda. Du

kan ställa in år genom att trycka på M-knappen 3. Tryck på

Bluetooth/tidsknappen 4 för att bekräfta och sedan ställa in

månad.

2. Du kan ställa in rätt månad genom att trycka på M-knappen.

Tryck in Bluetooth/tidsknappen för att bekräfta och sedan ställa

in rätt datum.

Information till läkare vid upprepad visning av indikatorn för

förmaksflimmer

Detta instrument är en oscillometrisk blodtrycksmätare som

också registrera oregelbunden puls/hjärtslag under mätningen

(arytmi). Instrumentet har genomgått kliniska tester.

Om förmaksflimmer förekommer vid blodtrycksmätning visas

symbolen för arytmi efter mätningen. Om symbolen «AFIB» för

förmaksflimmer visas efter en blodtrycksmätning i «MAM-läge»

(3 mätningar), rekommenderas patienten utföra en andra

mätning (3 mätningar). Om symbolen «AFIB» visas igen, rekom-

menderar vi patienten att söka läkare.

Om AFIB-symbolen visas på skärmen/displayen på blodtryck-

Förmaksflimmer diagnos MÅSTE göras av hjärtläkare baserad

på EKG tolkning.

Håll armen stilla under hela mätningen för att undvika felak-

tigt mätvärde.

Denna utrustning upptäcker ej eller felaktigt förmaksflimmer

hos patienter somhar pacemaker eller hjärtstartare.

Vid förmaksflimmer blir det diastoliska (högre) blodtry-

cksvärdet ej korrekt.

Vid förmaksflimmer rekommenderas att mäta blodtrycketi

MAM-läge för att få ett mer noggrant värde.

3. Följ ovanstående instruktioner för att ställa in dag, timme och

minuter.

4. När du har ställt in minuterna, tryck in Bluetooth/tidsknappen

och håll den intryckt, datum och tid sparas och tiden visas.

5. Om du vill ändra på datum och tid, tryck in Bluetooth/tids-

knappen och håll den intryckt i ca. 7-8 sekunder till årssiffran

börjar blinka. Du kan nu ange nya värden enligt instruktionerna

ovan.

Välj rätt manschett

Microlife erbjuder olika manschettstorlekar. Välj den manschett

som passar din överarm (manschetten skall ligga ordentligt runt

överarmens mitt).



Kontakta Microlife lokala service om bifogade manschett AL ej

passar.



Anslut manschetten till instrumentet, skjut in manschettkon-

takten AN i manschettuttaget 6 på vänster sida av instru-

mentet.

Välj användare

Utrustningen kan lagra mätresultaten från två användare.



Välj avsedd användare (användare 1 eller användare BN)

genom att ändra användarknappen 5.

Välj standard eller MAM läge

Innan varje mätning, välj standard (enkel mätning) eller MAM läge,

I MAM läge, 3 mätningar tas automatiskt efter varandra och resul-

tatet analyseras sedan automatiskt och visas i displayen. Genom

att blodtrycket varierar konstant så är ett blodtryck taget på detta

sätt noggrannare än vid enkel mätning.

För att välja MAM läge, för MAM knappen 7 till läge «3» tills

MAM symbolen BO visas i displayen. För att ändra till standard

läge (enkel mätning), för MAM knappen till läge «1».

I displayens högra hörn visas siffran 1, 2 eller 3 för att indikera

vilken av de 3 mätningarna som utförs.

Det är en paus på 15 sekunder mellan mätningarna. En nedräk-

ning visar återstående tid.

De individuella resultaten visas inte. Ditt blodtryck visas först

efter samtliga 3 mätningar.

Ta inte bort manschetten mellan mätningarna.

Om en av mätningarna är osäker, utförs en fjärde mätning auto-

matiskt.

3. Checklista för säker mätning



Undvik fysisk aktivitet, måltid eller rökning direkt före mätning.



Sitt ner på en stol med ryggstöd och slappna av i 5 minuter. Håll

fötterna platt på golvet och korsa ej benen.



Mät alltid på samma arm (vanligen vänster arm). Det rekom-

menderas att en läkare utför mätningar på båda armarna för att

bestämma vilken arm som visar högst blodtryck. Mät sedan på

den arm som visar högst blodtryck.



Avlägsna åtsittande klädesplagg på överarmen. Rulla inte upp

skjortärmen för att undvika blockering av blodcirkulationen.

Ärmen stör inte manschetten om du viker den försiktigt.



Se alltid till att rätt manschettstorlek används (markering på

manschetten).

Sätt fast manschetten ordentligt, inte för hårt.

Kontrollera att manschetten är placerad 1-2 cm ovanför

armbågsvecket.

Pulsåder markeringen på manschetten (ca. 3 cm lång

stapel) måste ligga över pulsådern som går ned längs

insidan av armen.

Placera armen så att den är avslappnad.

Kontrollera att manschetten sitter på samma höjd som ditt

hjärta.

Använd endast Microlife-manschetter.

Om Ni köper en Microlife manschett som reservdel AN ta

manschettslangen, anslut original manschettkontakt till

slangen för reservdelsmanschetten. (gäller för alla

manschettstorlekar)

Innan varje mätning, kontrollera att rätt invandrare är

inställd.

AF indikering är endast aktiverad i MAM läge.

4. Gör en blodtrycksmätning



Välj standard (enkelmätning) eller MAM läge (automatisk trippel

mätning). Se detaljer in kapitel 2.».



Tryck PÅ/AV-knappen 1 för att starta mätningen.



Manschetten pumpas upp automatiskt. Slappna av, rör dig inte

och spänn inte armmusklerna tills mätningsresultet visas.

Andas normalt och tala inte.



Manschettens passforms kontroll AR indikera att manschetten

är perfekt placerad. Om ikon BT-A visas är manschetten felak-

tigt placerad men det är fortfarande OK att mäta.



När korrekt tryck är uppnått, slutar instrumentet att pumpa och

trycket faller. Om önskat tryck inte uppnås, pumpar instru-

mentet ytterligare luft till manschetten.



Under mätningen blinkar puls indikatorn BM i displayen.



Resultatet med systoliskt AP och diastoliskt AQ blodtryck och

pulsslag AR visas. Observera även förklaringarna för de övriga

displayerna i detta häfte.



Då mätningen har utförts, avlägsna manschetten.



Stäng av instrumentet. (Displayen stängs av automatiskt efter

ca. 1 minut).

Manual uppblåsning

I de fall av högt blodtryck (t ex över 135 mmHg) kan det vara en

fördel att ställa in trycket individuellt. Tryck ned ON/OFF knappen

efter att blodtrycksmätaren ha blivit uppumpad till ca 30 mmHg

(visas i displayen). Behåll knappen nedtryckt tills trycket är

omkring 40 mmHg över det förväntade systoliska trycket, släpp

sedan knappen.

Att inte lagra ett mätvärde

Så snart som mätvärdet visas i displayen, tryck och håll ON/OFF

knappen 1 tills «M» BP blinkar. Bekräfta att radera mätvärdet

genom att trycka på Bluetooth/Time knappen 7.

Hur bedömer jag mitt blodtryck?

LED ljus indikatorn (traffic light) på vänster sida av displayen 8

indikera inom vilket område det mätta blodtrycket ligger. Värdet

ligger antingen inom det optimala (gröna), något för högt (gult)

eller högt (rött) område. Klassningen ansluter till de följande inter-

nationella riktvärdena. (ESH, ESC, JSH). Data i mmHg.

Det högre värdet bestämmer bedömningen. T.ex.: ett blodtryck på

140/80 mmHg eller ett värde på 130/90 mmHg anger «för högt

blodtryck».

«MyCheck» visar/indikera genomsnittsvärden

Denna symbol CT visar efter varje mätning, om den senaste

mätvärdet ligger under, över eller på samma nivå som Dina

lagrade värden (se också kapitel «5. Dataminne»).

AF indikering är endast aktiverad i MAM läge.

Du kan när som helst stoppa mätningen genom att trycka

på ON/OFF-knappen eller öppna manschetten (t.ex. om du

känner dig obekväm eller upplever en obehaglig tryck-

känsla).

Denna utrustning (blodtrycksmätare) är speciellt testad för

användning av gravida och havandeskapsförgiftning. När

du erhåller ovanligt höga blodtrycksvärden vid graviditet,

skall Du mäta igen efter en kort stund (t ex 1 timmar) Om

blodtrycket fortfarande är för högt, konsultera då med Din

läkare eller gynekolog.

Vid graviditet skall AFIB symbolen lämnas utan betydelse.

«CL» visas när mätvärdet från minnet raderats.

Om det mätta systoliska eller diastoliska trycket är mer än

5 mmHg högre än det lagrade genomsnittsvärdet, pekar

pilen uppåt.

Om det mätta systoliska eller diastoliska trycket är mer än

5 mmHg lägre än det lagrade genomsnittsvärdet, pekar

pilen nedåt.

Om det mätta systoliska eller diastoliska tryckt ej avviker

mer än 5 mmHg från det lagrade genomsnittsvärdet, pekar

pilen rakt ut.

Om det systoliska eller diastoliska trycket avviker i olikarik-

tningar från det lagrade genomsnittsvärdet, visas/indikeras

detta först med att den systoliska figuren blinkar, tillsam-

mans med att pilen pekar upp och ner under 2 sekunder.

Den diastoliska figuren blinkar och pilen går upp och ner

under två sekunder.

Utseende på oregelbundna hjärtslag (IHB) symbol

Denna symbol AN indikera att ett oregelbundet hjärtslag upptäckts.

I detta fall kan det uppmätta blodtrycket avvika från ditt aktuella

blodtrycksvärdet. Repetera blodtrycks mätningen.

5. Dataminne

Detta instrument sparar automatiskt de senaste 99 mätvärdena för

varje användare.

Välj användare 1 eller 2 genom att trycka på användar-knappen

Titta på genomsnittsvärden för de senaste 28 dagar.

Tryck M-knappen

igen. Displayen visar först «M»

och «28A»,

vilket står för genomsnitts mätvärdetav de 28 senaste dagarna.

Titta på genomsnittsvärden för det kliniska blodtrycket

«MyBP»

Tryck kort på M-knappen 3 när utrustningen är avstängd, du kan

nu se genomsnittsvärdet av relevanta kliniska blodtrycksvärden

«MyBP». Displayen visas först «M» BP och «MyBP» BQ. Dessa

genomsnittsvärden visas endast om 12 relevanta kliniska

mätvärden under de senaste 28 dagar har erhållits.

Titta på lagrade enskilda värden

Tryck ned M-knappen igen, det sista mätvärdet visas. Displayen

visar först «M» BP och ett värde t ex «M17». Detta betyder att det

finns 17 enskilda värden i minnet.

Tryck på M-knappen igen för att visa föregående värde. Tryck på

M-knappen flera gånger för att visa flera värden.

Radering av alla värden

Var säker på att rätt användare är aktiverad.

Om Du är säker på att Du vill permanent radera alla lagrade

mätvärden, håll ned M-knappen (utrustningen måste vara

avstängd före detta moment) tills «CL ALL» visas och släpp sedan

knappen. För att permanent radera minnet, tryck ned Bluetooth/

Tijdknop knappen när «CL ALL» blinkar. Individuella mätvärden

kan ej raderas.

6. Indikation på att batteriet håller på att ta slut och

batteribyte

Då batteriet nästan är slut

När batterienergin är förbrukad till ca ¾ blinkar batterisymbolen AS

när instrumentet startas (ett delvis fyllt batteri visas). Även om

instrumentet fortfarande kan mäta, bör du skaffa nya ?batterier.

Tomma batterier – utbyte

När batterierna är helt tomma blinkar batterisymbolen AS när

instrumentet startas (tomt batteri visas). Du kan inte göra flera

mätningar utan att byta ut batterierna.

1. Öppna batterifacket AK på instrumentets baksida.

2. Ersätt batterierna – kontrollera att polerna placeras åt rätt håll

enligt symbolerna i facket.

3. Upprepa stegen i avsnitt «2. Användning av instrumentet första

gången» för att ställa in datum och tid.

Information till doktorn om IHB symbolen visas upprepade

gånger.

Denna utrustning är en oscllometrisk blodtrycksmätaresom

också mäter pulsen under blodtrycks mätningen ochindikera när

hjärtslagen är oregelbundna.

Blodtrycksmätningar vid suboptimal(bristfällig) passning av

manschetten BT-A är ej med i genomsnittsvärdet.

Endast mätvärden som görs på morgonen under tiden

05.00-10.59 eller på kvällen mellan 17.00-22.59 är

medtagna.

Maximum 4 mätningar per dag tas med (2 från morgonen

och 2 från kvällen)

Mätningar gjorda i standard läge och i MAM läge tas med i

genomsnittsvärden när de gjorts under angivna tider.

Mätningar gjorda i MAM läge(trippelmätning) eller i stan-

dard läge (enkelmätning) är klassade som enkelmätningar

för att erhålla «MyBP» genomsnittsvärde.

Blodtrycksmätningar vid suboptimal(bristfällig) passning av

manschetten BT-A är ej med i genomsnittsvärdet.

Var noga med att den maximala 99 minneskapaciteten inte

överskrids. När 99 minnet är fullt, ersätts det äldsta

värdet automatiskt med värdet 100. En läkare bör

utvärdera värden innan minneskapaciteten är fullt utnyttjad

– annars kommer data att förloras.

Återkalla radering: Tryck ON/OFF knappen 1 medan

«CL ALL» blinkar.

Minnet innehåller alla värden men datum och tid måste

anges igen – årssiffran blinkar därför automatiskt när

batterierna har byts ut.

Vilka batterier och hur skall de bytas ut?

Användning av laddningsbara batterier

Du kan även använda instrumentet med laddningsbara batterier.

7. Användning av nätadapter

Du kan använda instrumentet med Microlife adapteranslutning

(DC 6V, 600 mA).

1. Stoppa in adapterkabeln i adapteranslutningens uttag AT i blod-

trycksmätaren.

2. Anslut adaperkontakten till vägguttaget.

När adapteranslutningen är ansluten, förbrukas ingen batterien-

ergi.

8. Bluetooth® funktion

Använd Bluetooth®-funktionen för att överföra data till appen

«Microlife Connected Health+» på en smarttelefon (Android OS

eller iOS). Mer information finns i: www.microlife.com/technolo-

gies/connect

Bluetooth®- åtgärder

Aktivera Bluetooth® manuellt: Tryck på knappen Bluetooth/

Time 4 för att aktivera Bluetooth®, Bluetooth®-symbolen AO

på skärmen kommer att blinka.

Aktivera Bluetooth® automatiskt: Bluetooth® aktiveras automa-

tiskt efter en mätning. Bluetooth®-symbolen AO på skärmen

kommer att blinka.

Inaktivera Bluetooth® manuellt: Tryck på ON/OFF-knappen 1

för att inaktivera Bluetooth®.

Inaktivera Bluetooth® automatiskt: Bluetooth® inaktiveras auto-

matiskt efter 2 minuter om ingen smarttelefon ansluter till

enheten.

Bluetooth®-parkoppling och appkonfiguration:

1. Öppna appen «Microlife Connected Health+» på smarttele-

fonen. (Se till att appen körs i förgrunden och inte i

bakgrunden.)

2. Aktivera Bluetooth® manuellt för att ansluta enheten till en

smarttelefon.

3. När en smarttelefon hittar enheten kommer den att visa ett

meddelande om att parkoppla enheten. Bekräfta på smarttele-

fonen för att slutföra parkopplingen. Avbryt för att avbryta

parkopplingen.

4. Efter parkoppling visar appen ett meddelande om att konfigu-

rera enhetens användarval (1 eller 2) i appens användarprofil.

Bekräfta för att fortsätta med konfigurationen. Avbryt för att

avbryta konfigurationen (om användarvalet är felaktigt).

5. Efter konfigurationen kommer enheten att automatiskt utbyta

mätdata och inställningar för datum/tid med appen. Bluetooth®

inaktiveras automatiskt efter datautbyte.

Bluetooth® status

Bluetooth®-symbolen AO blinkar långsamt: Bluetooth® är akti-

verat och väntar på att ansluta.

Bluetooth®-symbolen AO blinkar inte: Bluetooth®-anslutningen

har upprättats.

Bluetooth®-symbolen AO blinkar snabbt: Bluetooth®-anslut-

ningsfel.

Använd 4 nya, lång livslängd alkaliska batterier med 1.5V,

storlek AA.

Använd inte batterier som passerat bäst före datum.

Avlägsna batterierna om instrumentet inte skall användas

under en längre tid.

Använd endast återladdningsbara batterier av typ «NiMH»

batterier.

Batterierna måste tas ut och laddas om batterisymbolen

(tomt batteri) visas. Batterierna får inte lämnas inne i instru-

mentet eftersom de kan skadas av detta (urladdadas på

grund av oregelbunden användning även om instrumentet

är avstängt).

Avlägsna de laddningsbara batterierna om du inte kommer

att använda instrumentet inom en vecka.

Batterierna kan inte laddas medan de sitter i blodtry-

cksmätaren. Ladda batterierna i en extern laddare och ta

del av information angående laddning, hantering och

livslängd.

Använd endast Microlife's adapter som är anpassad till

denna utrustning, finns med som tillbehör.

Kontrollera att varken nät adaptern eller kabeln är skadade.
